Focus Story: Thunder series of global operations to combat wildlife crime. Support efforts from seizure to prosecution - the rhino horns case.
Over 20 pieces of rhino horn weighing 34.25kg was seized by the National Parks Board of Singapore in Operaton Thunder 2022 – the largest rhino horn seizure in Singapore’s history. ICCWC provides targeted support before, during and after Thunder Operations to coordinate activities in different countries and facilitate investigations. In the period between the 2022 and 2023 iterations of Operation Thunder, led by INTERPOL and WCO, efforts focused on further investigating the rhino horns case.
